Our Mission, Our Products
The mission of Northrop Grumman DS&T is to be
DoD's top system developer for battle management decision aids, and
platform and weapon mission support systems. We seek to continually
expand and improve our capability and capacity to:
- Provide
for the design, development, integration and life cycle support of
mission support and command and control systems. These include mission
support systems for platforms, weapons and sensors subsystems involved
in all warfare areas.
- Provide
systems engineering support in technology areas that are related to
improving the effectiveness of basic maneuver element operational
capabilities.

The
company has a 24-year legacy in critical warfare areas such as strike
warfare; Electronic Warfare (EW); maritime surveillance; Command,
Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I); and,
Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR). Our key strength is the close
coupling of the operational understanding of the problems associated
with warfare systems and the engineering required to translate that
understanding into a delivered system. The evolution of the engineering
capabilities of Northrop Grumman DS&T has resulted in
engineering processes that enable system designs to be completed for
40% to 70% the industr's average cost. We maintain the close coupling
of operational needs and the engineering process by involving the
warfighters throughout the program, beginning with system design. Over
the years, we have undertaken substantial IR&D initiatives that
have produced tools to facilitate this interaction without the
concomitant negative impacts on program schedule and design, and
ultimately, costs.
Northrop Grumman DS&T is recognized as the
expert in both air
and surface EW, C4ISR, and Precision Guided Munitions (PGM) planning,
targeting and control systems. It is (and has been) the plan of the
company to expand this capability into operator control systems on
aircraft and ship platforms. This, combined with our increasing
maturity as an integrator of combat systems, is positioning Northrop
Grumman DS&T to provide large primes and governments software
for their systems and subsystems. From its single product legacy (the
AN/TSQ -142 EA-6B mission support system), the company has evolved to
one that now continues to upgrade this system and also performs:

- US
Navy’s Tactical Mobile Variants (TMV), which includes the
Tactical Support Centers (TSC), and the US Marine Corps’
Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) Software Baseline,
- Systems control for the EA6B ICAP III aircraft;
- AN/SLQ-32 software and support systems;
- Planning modules for non-guided and PGMs. These
include: AGM-88, AGM-130, GBU-15, WCMD, AGM-142, and JASSM;
- Joint Defensive Planner (JDP);
- EW support laboratories;
- Upgrade systems software for legacy airborne warning
receivers;
- AN/TSQ-221 Maritime system for airborne surveillance
and reconnaissance.
Achieving our business goals requires agility and
precision. This rapidly changing business environment, coupled with the
ever-changing software technology environment, represents a significant
challenge to the company. To address this challenge we are continuing
to improve upon our software development efficiencies and apply the
latest software and information technologies using our well-established
engineering processes. The professional growth and training of our
engineering is a high priority for the company. With Northrop Grumman
DS&T's breath of experience in offensive and defensive warfare
areas, platforms, C4I environments, and automated decision aid
technology we have demonstrated that we are well prepared to deliver
scalable, innovative solutions that exploit computer and information
technologies to satisfy emerging military requirements.
